Asha Rebel-Lammersen

Asha Rebel-Lammersen, author of All Queer but One

My name is Asha Rebel-Lammersen. I was born in India, but grew up in The Netherlands, where I currently live with my diverse, beautiful family.

From an early age I've been fond of reading, and spent hours on end lost in stories and adventures. I started writing when I was about ten years old. I kept journals, wrote short stories, and poems. As I got older, and started adulting I didn't have much free time on my hands. For a while I stopped writing altogether. About a year ago I came up with this story I had wanted to put on paper for a while. I have always been a fan of young, and new adult fiction, especially in the LGTBQ+ genre.

Growing up queer is challenging under the best of circumstances. With nearly two decades of teaching under my belt, I've seen the resilience and pride of many of my queer students, but I've seen their struggles as well. We live in a world where self-determination for women, LGTBQ+, and trans rights are targeted on a daily basis, in countries we would never have thought possible. Harmful pieces of legislation, and homophobic statements from high-ranking members of government are causing immense damage to people who just want to be their true self. I hope my stories will bring joy, comfort, and generally speaking ‘a feel-good vibe’ to my readers.

Spectrum Books is publishing my second novel, but there are many more to come.  Apart from writing I enjoy spending time with family and friends. I work out at the gym regularly to keep somewhat in shape. I like travelling, whenever the opportunity arises. My favourite holiday destinations are Scotland and Ireland. After a hard day's work, I like to unwind in front of the telly with a cup of tea.
